With our Conservatory-to-Play™ approach, learning the bass is easy. We fast-track your child's success by starting to teach advanced conservatory techniques on day one, giving them a world-class foundation while keeping the journey completely easy and fun.

Starting on the right path helps a student learn quicker and hold down the rhythm with confidence. For our younger players, we often incorporate this with games and rewards (but our adults enjoy them, too!).

Acoustic Double Bass

Perfect for students looking to excel in school orchestras, symphonies, or traditional jazz ensembles. Our instructors focus on authentic upright technique, precise intonation, proper shifting, and the art of both bowing (arco) and plucking (pizzicato).

Electric Bass Guitar

Designed for the contemporary musician who wants to lay down the groove. We explore styles ranging from rock, pop, and metal to funk and blues, ensuring students master timekeeping, fingerstyle plucking, picking, and music theory.

The Right Fit & Age

Because of the physical size of the instruments, students are typically around age 9 or 10 before beginning double bass or bass guitar. However, motivated younger students can comfortably start early using fractional or short-scale instruments!

Our bass faculty hold college or university music degrees, ensuring that proper posture, skeletal alignment, and music theory are taught right from day one. In addition to their classical credentials, many of our instructors are active, gigging musicians who perform regularly in live bands and orchestras.
